The No Addiction Concert in Youpwe

The “No Addiction Concert” was ROFI CAMEROON first public awareness event in  the city of Douala. The event was scheduled in commemoration of the International day  against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The event was initially planned to be organised at the Bonangang neibourhood along the bangs of the river wouri,Douala 5 Municipality. 

The choice of Youpwe in Douala 2 Municipality.

Youpwe was chosen  because of its historical ties with the Founder CEO of Roots Of Freedom Initiative(ROFI CAMEROON)He lost his best friend to drugs in Youpwe in 2003. After the incident he decided it was time to quit and finally won addiction in 2007. His testimonies are the key to our campaigns in Schools ahd communities

How we tackled the Youths in  Youpwe

We were granted an authorization by the divisional officer of Douala 2 to occupy the Carrefour Youpwe.Some youths of the neibourhood rejected the campaign when they head it was about drugs.Later when they saw our concept consist of Mounting a Street Podium  and we invited    artist from the host communities, we partnered with the Ministry of Social affairs, a  mental health professioner, A psychologist and former drug addicts for  testimonies, they immediately helped mobilize  youths related to our subject,

The event stated with a word from the community leader who called on the youths of his community to stay clear off the consumption of drugs and other psychoactive substances.In Youpwe the drugs heavily consumed are Alcohol and Marijuana.

The Outcome of the Event parents were more concerned as the leant of the Dangers of psychoactive substances and pledged to contact us for a follow up with their children. After the event a popurlar youth  of Youpwe Yaka Yaka has quit…”From a day to a life time Its Posible”
