Tributes to Arrey Tek a.k.a G4
In 2021 while we were reparing for the “No Addiction” Street Concert in Youpwe , Douala Arrey Tek aka G4 met us and expressed his concern. He told us about his drug history and how he recovered from psychoactive substances at university in the United States. His revealing tattoos could testify his narative.
He told us it took him 7 years just studying the word and seeking Christ.
He worked with IHS ,Douala and later moved to join Biaka University in Buea. woring company in Douala called IHS even as he ministers, specifically to the YOUTH – which is why, on April 23rd 2016, he and a few other Gospel Artists were invited to perform at Saker Baptist College where they led many to Christ.
Says his Mother, Class of 1979’s ELSIE TANYI: “There is hope. If you have a child who is in rebellion, just be steadfast in the word and prayer.
If God can do it for me He will do it for you.
He is my testimony of God’s love and grace.
The youths and street children: That is his mission, and God is using him mightily. His life is a testimony of God’s grace. We thank God. Na God win!”
Well, the AWARD WINNING GOSPEL RAP STAR later moved from IHS to work with the BIAKA GROUP in BUEA as Manager of Marketing and Communications, continuing to be passionate about his career and just as radical with his faith in Christ.
… and then, yesterday, Monday, March 16th 2026, I get one of those texts filled with that dreadful crying emoji (😭) that make your heart sink even before you read the words themselves!!!
SADLY, the text let me know that Class of 1979’s Sis. ELSIE TANYI had lost this First Child and Only Son of hers I had written about 10 years ago.
The very one who, upon his Father’s passing in BAKASSI’s Battle Field had turned his life around to watch over his widowed Mother and orphaned Sisters. (I am paraphrasing from a recorded declaration he made himself.)
GONE, at age 42! 😭
I lack the words to express my condolences to his Family, to his beloved Mother especially, to his Sisters:
– Dr. MECHANE BUNGO (SBC Graduating Class of 2007) who comes directly after Arrey Tek and resides in Canada,
– Magistrate – Captain Mrs. TAKU AYABA, and
– Ms. ETANE METIEGE, RN who resides in Florida.
We can only PRAY, in earnest, for God’s Peace and Comfort at a time like this.
ADIEU, Son.
May the GOD you came to Know, Worship, Praise, and Serve receive you into His Heavenly Kingdom.
